Art Director + Designer
danny Louten became passionate about design in the early nineties as a high school grom in Maine. His first Mac had a 4-inch screen with a handheld scanner. In these early days he also dabbled in photography and running printing presses making his first primitive impressions. danny got his feet wet in the design industry in Pacific Beach, San Diego working on brand identities in the late 90s. While he was out of the office, he would venture between L.A. and Mexico to embrace the art and typographic styles of the southwest. Five years later danny returned home to Maine, obtained a B.F.A in Graphic Design from The Maine College of Art and hit the ground running.
Months later danny was landed the art director/designer position for an action sports mag for surfers, skaters, skiiers, and riders, N'East Magazine. While at N'East danny worked with a dozen passionate souls to put this mag together for east coasters from the Jersey Shore to Maine. While at N'East he would get some help from, surfer, Sam Hammer and snowboarder, Ross Powers as Guest Editors for Issue 11. He also took this opportunity to interview the King of Type, David Carson. danny's solo design work encompassed nine issues of the magazine over two years before the magazines abrupt end.
Lately danny has been commissioned by RedBull, Cloud Cult, O.A.R., and Guster for poster lines and apparel.
danny is currently freelancing and has teamed up with Dan Bryant at Make: in Portland, Maine. make-studio.com
